3D Animation Movie Maker - The Evolution of Making Animations at Home

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

I guess a lot of people would like to make their own movies. By that I mean to go beyond editing together movie clips taken while on holiday, to making movies which tell a story. In most cases professional actors are expensive and most friends don't make good actors. This is why making a 3D animation movie is a satisfying low cost alternative.

I remember a holiday movie my father made in the 1950s. It had an animated title filmed, like the rest of the movie on 8mm celluloid film. When I asked him about it, he told me he had put his camera in a clamp pointing at the floor. He then created the first letter of the title using a piece of string and filmed it for a couple of seconds, then he created the second letter and so on. It was several days later, when the film came back from the developing laboratory that he discovered that his desk lamp had not really been adequate to illuminate his work properly.

Then along came computers. It took a while before computers got good at graphics, even stationary ones. But of course they did eventually get good, not only at rendering still scenes, but also animations. Unfortunately Hollywood studios being able to afford high powered hardware and software did not make it accessible to the amateur movie maker.

The high price of professional 3D animation software led to the concept of Machinima. In Machinima inexpensive computer games are used to record 3D animated movie clips. Some computer games have a camera or record function built into them, and for others which do not, there are additional utilities such as Fraps, which can be used for recording the game action.

Popular Machinima games include Quake, Unreal Tournament and SIMS 2. These games come with the ability to design your own sets and characters, either as part of the main game itself or using utilities, which are provided with the game. Admittedly getting exactly the movie clips you want from these games can be challenging. I never did find out how to part characters in Unreal Tournament or Quake from their guns, which meant unless you wanted to make a shoot 'em up movie, they were not ideal. No doubt obstacles like this could be overcome, but it seemed you could not get very far unless you were prepared to get immersed in scripting language.

Of the three games I have mentioned, SIMS 2, is probably the easiest to use for making Machinima, except that the characters, or in our case actors, tend to have minds of their own. So your movie star may wander off part way through filming, or someone else you don't recognize, might suddenly turn up and disrupt the scene you are shooting. With SIMS 2 you might even find your movie set spontaneously combusting during filming if you forgot to buy fire insurance. Perhaps this is like movie making in real life, but I would prefer not to have to put up with all of these uncertainties.

So you may wonder why no one has produced a budget software product, specifically for the purpose of making 3D animations at home. In fact Microsoft did exactly that in the mid 1990s with a product called 3D Movie Maker, which they targeted at the kids market. However the product was designed for early PCs, so it was pretty basic, on most home PCs it was slow, and it was soon discontinued.

Recently there has been recognition of this unfulfilled need. Reallusion in particular, has developed a 3D animation movie maker called iClone. This software is pretty much a dream come true for anyone who wants to tell a story using 3D animation. In its basic form it costs about the same as a new top end computer game, while the more advanced and more useful Pro version is still very reasonable.

Although you could make a whole movie in iClone, I find it is best to use it to construct a series of 3D animation movie clips and to then edit them together using Microsoft Movie Maker, which comes as part of Windows, or using a more advanced home movie editing suite such as Pinnacle Studio.

Other key points to note about iClone are that if you want to get up and running very quickly, there is a good library of actors, scenes and props, which you can purchase to add to the collection, which comes with the program itself. On the other hand if you are short of cash and prefer to build everything yourself and have plenty of time to spare, you can do that too using the tools included in the software.

One optional utility, which I recommend purchasing bundled with the iClone, is Reallusion's 3DXchange. This allows you to import content from other sources, including Google 3D Warehouse, which is a fantastic resource full of free models of buildings and other props, to enhance your 3D animations.

I find it amazing to think that with a budget of less than ,000 I can now purchase a PC and the software required to make 3D animation movies, when twenty years ago I would have needed $ millions for less capable facilities.

How to Make a Cartoon Storyboard

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Crafting animation that sparks the imagination begins with a perfect storyboard...a visual depiction of your script, characters, and action. Getting the hang of storyboarding for cartoons requires a little forethought and planning, but it is well worth the time and effort. We've come up with a useful, quick guide to getting your storyboard polished and making it effective. Once you've created a perfect linear map of your artistic vision, you can use your storyboard to interest investors, create a buzz, and serve as a handy template for the finished product. Here is the best way to plan our your cartoon with a professional, engaging storyboard...

1.) Drawings - The frame-by-frame setup of a classic storyboard should mimic that of a newspaper comic strip. Plan out your action and envision drawings that give viewers of your storyboard a sense of your artistic vision. Sometimes, outsourcing or creating drawings can be an expensive and draining prospect - artists are known to bring along a little drama, in the form of missed deadlines...you can avoid this pitfall by choosing to create digital storyboards from today's hot new software programs. Some great picks are Storyboard Artist and Storyboard Quick (Power Productions). Browse the Web for demos and you'll see that they provide pre-loaded artwork that makes putting together a cartoon storyboard easy and fun!

2.) Scriptmaking - Getting your drawings in line with your script is important. Make sure you have dialogue mapped out ahead of time. The best animators and directors know that a polished script is the key to great storyboards that capture the imagination. Take the time to refine your vision by typing up a script that focuses on creating a specific tone or mood. By using text or dialogue to add impact to your artwork, you can create a storyboard people want to see.

3.) Backgrounds - There is more to animation than characters, speech, and action. Backgrounds offer an easy way to add richness and dimension to your cartoon storyboard. However, creating perfect backgrounds for your storyboard can be very labor-intensive. The best storyboard software will provide ready-made backgrounds you can customize in an instant. User-friendly digital storyboarding software is the wave of the future. Consider using it to get the results you want in a fraction of the time. Another benefit of storyboard software for PC is the way it allows you to play around and experiment. Tiresome hours spent drawing or trying to explain your vision to artists will be replaced by pleasant moments spent tweaking your vision with pre-loaded backgrounds you can make your own! For a look at ways of obtaining software, browse the Net and search for keywords like "storyboard software" or "storyboard artist".

4.) Music - The best cartoons always feature music that adds drama and interest to the production. Traditional 2-D storyboards don't always offer the opportunity to add the right music and amp up the mood and effect! However, Storyboard Artist and Storyboard Quick have been designed to make adding the right soundtrack a breeze. The right soundtrack will make your storyboards more professional and they will help your animation crew understand the "feel" you're going for in your digital storyboard! Be sure to consider music when you put it all together!

We hope you've enjoyed this step-by-step breakdown of what is needed to make a great cartoon storyboard. Today's technology makes it easier than ever to create a workable template for your next production!

Why Owners Should Consider GPS Tracking for Protecting Their Pets

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

In today's society, 62% of U.S. households have pets. In most cases, those pets are considered a loved member of the family and often treated like children.

It is no wonder that pet owners are doing what they can to take their pets safety more seriously.

With pets being taken and mistreated only to be left astray, owners are looking for more reliable ways to protect their pets.

Animal Statistics

Of the 62% of household pets in the U.S. 78 million are dogs, while 86 million are cats. Just think, there are more than 70 million stray cats roaming free on the streets.

When it comes to companion animals (pets) that are lost each year:

  • 5 - 7 million companion animals are sheltered annually
  • 3 - 4 million companion animals euthanized annually (60% dogs/ 70% cats)
  • 15 - 20% of companion animals are returned to their owners (had tattoo's, id's, or microchip)

Benefits to Using a GPS Tracker as Pet Locator

Pet owners are learning there are benefits to using a GPS tracker as a pet locator:

  • Prevent pets from becoming lost or stolen
  • Prevent shelter fees by tracking and locating your own pet
  • Geofence protection can alert you the moment your pet is out of their designated area
  • Software is user-friendly

Reasons Pets Become Lost

Understanding how and why pets become lost is the key to prevention.

The following is a list of the top four reasons pets become lost:

  • Opportunity: Door left open, gate left open
  • Curiosity: Digging under a fence, darting past an owner
  • Panic: Loud noises, thunder, lightening
  • Theft

Making sure you close the door or gate behind you can help to prevent a pet from wandering off.

If you see where they have been digging under a fence, take precautions to fill the hole and provide a barrier preventing your pet from being able to reach the other side.

Try creating as much white noise as possible for your pet. This may help with desensitization.

When your pet experiences loud noises give them a massage to help them to relax.

Doing this while playing a CD of loud noises at increasing volume over a period of days will help your pet to better adapt to the loud noises in the future.

To prevent theft, some pet owners have opted for the chip. Others are touting the praises of GPS tracking using locator collars, while others aren't quite as convinced.

Past Complaints About Using GPS Devices for Companion Animals

Pet tracking using GPS tracking devices is a simple and efficient way to keep tabs of your furry friends. Some complaints owners have expressed over using GPS technology to track their pets are:

  • Device battery doesn't last long enough
  • Digital maps are complicated to use
  • Range isn't far enough

Though this may have been the case years ago, technology has greatly improved over just the last few months.

Improvements to battery life, maps, and data range have made pet locator collars using GPS technology that much more attractive for keeping the family pet safe and sound.

Being able to establish such GPS alerts as geofencing provides owners with the ability to establish a geographic boundary for their pet.

If for any reason their pet goes outside of their predetermined geofence, the owner will be sent an alert by email and/or text.

This will help to improve the chances of recovering their pet before they are picked up and taken to a nearby shelter, thus saving owners from paying unnecessary fees.

Statistical data provided by ASPCA.

Time Tracking - How Do You Get an Engineer to Track Time?

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

How do you get an engineer to track the time they are spending on projects, resolving issues and scheduling time? You might say, "Just ask them to use time tracking software available in the market," but they would just walk out of the door. Some individuals say that such software is just a miserable waste of time, bureaucratic time stinks." Actually, time tracking software can do much more for you than just collect, compile and schedule time. It also provides you with useful information that can be used to analyze where time is spent and to better estimate future projects.

Perhaps the problem is that engineers must enter the numbers instead of having the software do the time tracking for them and just asking them periodically to set the description of their activity and to press record. Software engineers do not really like time management tools to make schedules. Quite often they try to get away without a time tracking tool. "It'll be done when it's done!" the engineers say, expecting that such a brave, funny zinger will reduce their bosses to fits of giggles, and in the ensuing joviality, the schedule will be forgotten.

Since engineers are not often involved in project scheduling, I suspect that they do not see the personal benefit from online time tracking and scheduling. You want to be spending your time on tasks that get the most work completed for every dollar spent. However, you cannot estimate how much money is spent without knowing how long the work is going to take. When you have to decide between the "animated paperclip" feature and the "more financial functions" feature, would you not want to know how much time each will take? At a business level, you would typically know how much you are paying your engineers, so time tracking software allows you to compute the cost of people for the project. Typically, people are the most expensive component of a software project; and in knowing this, such programs are a large benefit. Time tracking software not only helps you compute costs, but it is useful as well. The best estimates come from engineers, and to continue to provide good estimates, the engineers need to continually refine their estimates. Some engineers track their time well, while others need a little encouragement.

Detailed time tracking is a good way to make (or at least try to make) engineers track their time and improve estimates. However I would recommend limiting the number of such items. If you do not want your reports to become nightmares, limit the number of buckets you are tracking. Group items such as internal meetings, product training and conference calls into a single "Internal" category. It will simplify your reports and make it easier for employees to log their time. Engage your team and communicate how the time tracking data is going to be used (and how it is not going to be used). Explain the value of this software to all staff members. If the data helps to reduce the amount of multi-tasking or fire fighting, communicate that. By clarifying the process and explaining how timesheets help speed up the billing cycle and increase cash flow - thus gaining the ability to take on more projects (which can mean more money for everybody) - you make them understand and want to help. It is also important to be flexible in how the work is tracked. If you do not want employees watching the clock and getting creative with 15-minute excuses here and there, do not demand timesheets that are precise to the minute.

Time tracking is a great way for projects to figure out where time is truly being spent. You might be surprised. With this data, you can understand efficiencies and bottlenecks and help your project management efforts dramatically.

The Ultimate Advantages Of Digital Photography

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Advances in the design and capabilities of digital cameras are happening nearly at the speed of thought. Digital cameras are experiencing technological advances as rapidly as PCs did a few years ago. Once marginally acceptable for taking a snapshot or two, the digital camera is forging its way into mainstream amateur and professional photography circles. And it's no wonder.

Once of the best of the long list of advantages of digital photography is the immediate ability to view the scene through the digital camera's LCD screen. Even the best TTL focusing doesn't convey how the scene is going to come out as well as the LCD screen does.

Combine that nifty preview feature with the immediate gratification that comes from the ability to view the shot after it's been taken, and there are no longer any excuses for coming home from vacation with a pile of lousy photographs.

Then there's the low cost of film. Wait! Make that the NO cost of film. Sure, digital camera storage devices tend to cost a bit more than your average roll of ASA 1000, but it's a one-time cost that keeps on giving and giving over and over again. Combine the no film costs with the no film processing costs and you suddenly find yourself being able to afford to shoot anything and everything you see without ending up short of beer money! Surely that's an advantage all by itself.

Moving right along on the growing list of why you simply MUST own a digital camera, we come to what I like to call the 'digital darkroom' which is what the rest of the world likes to call graphics software.

Without having to mix a batch of chemical soup, without having to own a single red light bulb and without having to wait hours for your paper to dry, you can professionally process, morph, annotate, animate, enlarge, compress and remove the dreaded 'red eye' from your images with the click of a mouse. Hate how it all came out? No problem. Just click "undo" and start all over again.

Let's not overlook the convenience of being able to e-mail shots of the kids to grandma. No trips to the Post Office, no ordering double prints at the drug store. You just snap, download to your PC and send the kid's into cyberspace. While you're in cyberspace, don't forget to update your family photo album which you can have hosted for free at any number of the free "look what I did" photo album sites on the Internet.

Probably the best advantage of digital photography is that there is no cost for making mistakes. This allows you to experiment with different f/stops, white balance settings, focal points and lenses without emptying your wallet just to see how bad they turned out.

When there is no cost for making an error, you're bound to end up taking better photographs as you learn how to take your digital camera to the limits.

Watch Satellite TV Online or Through The Black Box

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Perhaps you are toying with the idea to watch satellite TV online. But you have gotten so used to watching TV through the black box at home. Whether it is cable or satellite TV, it is common knowledge that we have so far been exposed only to watching TV using our television sets. TV entertainment remains a powerful source of entertainment to be reckon with. But the median used to watch TV, in particular to watch satellite TV has taken a new form altogether. Today, it is possible for anyone with a computer and an internet connection to watch satellite TV online. But we will take a close look at the differences between watching satellite TV on computer and through the TV set.

1. Availability of Satellite TV

Users of satellite dish system to watch satellite TV are a fortunate lot. This is because not everyone get to watch satellite TV such as those who live in the developed urban corners of the world. With skyscrapers and high rise buildings almost everywhere, it becomes quite impossible for the satellite dish to be set up to receive satellite TV feeds. This is not so when you watch satellite TV online. The technology relies on the internet connection and you get to watch LIVE TV as long as you are connected.

2. Reception and Transmission Quality

As long as you have to make use of a satellite dish to receive and deliver TV channels to your TV set, you have to contend with those days of bad weather and poor reception. Bad weather such as storms and strong winds are the nemesis of satellite TV dish. Once too often, they get damaged or misaligned and therefore cannot receive the TV feeds clearly. This problem is a non-issue when you watch satellite TV online.

3. Setup of Satellite TV System

Hand a satellite dish and a receiver to anyone and there is a high chance that person would struggle with the installation. Let's face it. Not everyone is born with the gift to fix stuff, especially complicated equipment like satellite dishes. By the time you finish reading the instruction manual, you would be so frustrated that you simply dump the system aside. People end up paying for expensive services to get them erected. You can avoid all these troubles when you watch satellite TV online with PC satellite TV software. The setup is simple, download the software, install it on your computer and start running to watch TV through satellite from home.

4. Choice of Satellite TV Programs

Satellite TV viewers do know that they can access and watch dozens of satellite TV channels. With so much competition in the market, everyone is bidding on better deals in terms of number of programs. The fact remains that even for a value-for-money TV package, you can get at most 200 TV channels. This is not the case when you watch satellite TV online since you are getting instant access to thousands of TV channels. And these are not only local channels but worldwide channels packed with interesting programs like the latest movie releases, TV sitcoms, world news, anime and so on.

5. Subscriptions and Cost To Watch

It is not rare to hear of stories about paying top dollars for a good satellite TV package. Heavy users who watch a great deal of satellite TV can choke up high bills every month. This is especially so if you wish to watch LIVE sports channels or watch special featured programs which are not available in your main TV package. If you watch satellite TV online, you only pay once for the software for lifetime usage. After that, you can watch satellite TV online for free as long as you wish. No monthly subscriptions ever!

These are the gist of a quick comparison between to watch satellite TV online and through TV sets. It is really a matter of choice but be sure to make the right one. Read up my free satellite TV guide and discover more about how to watch satellite TV online for close to zilch.

3D Studio Max Animation Tutorial

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

The 3D Studio Max is the one of the best and most popular, edge cutting and state of the art 3D graphics software for modeling, animation, lighting, simulations, motion capture etc. Now a days there is lots of websites are providing the lots of millions of lessons, examples, guides and tutorials. There are two ways to search knowledge about 3D Max tutorial. The first search for the exact problem and the second search just step by step tutorials. They need no so professional guides with hi-end results, but tutorials with main information for beginners without complex exercises. They just want to find How to start with 3D Studio MAX.

While both types of computer animation can be accomplished by either frame by frame animation or by mathematical interpolation between key frames, the initial steps prior to animating are drastically different; the two separate processes also require different software packages. 3D animation, however, is rendered in a virtual three dimensional space, using polygons captured by various virtual cameras to film the animation. 3D animation has a variety of applications, from video games to animated films; most commonly, 3D animation is used to render many of the special effects seen in live action films, removing the need for scale model sets or staged stunts.

When you first open 3D Studio Max, it can look a little daunting, with dozens of buttons and tabs, screens and panels. But do not worry; just follow along, and we will get started on figuring out just what is what. The first tab is the Objects tab. It contains buttons that let you draw or create many of the often used basic shapes among the large repertoire of set shapes that 3D Studio Max contains, without having to find them in their usual sets and subsets in the regular areas. From left to right: Box, Sphere, Cylinder,Taurus, Teapot (no, this is not a joke, it is really a teapot), Cone, Geo Sphere, Tube,Pyramid, Plane, Hydra, Ring Wave, Torus Knot, Capsule, L-Extrusion, C-Extrusion, Prism,Quad Patch,Damper Dynamics, and Spring Dynamics.

Main tools and the create panel Geometry: Represented by an image of a sphere, selecting this subset lets you draw any three dimensional geometry. The default is Standard Primitives (box, sphere, etc), but using the drop down menu you can select Extended Primitives, Compound Objects, Particle Systems, Patch Grids, NURBS Surface, and Dynamic Objects.

Shapes: Represented by a shapes icon, this subset gives access to the drawing tools for flat, 2D objects: Splines (circles, rectangles, etc.) and curves...Lights:Subset represented by a flashlight with the tools to create light sets: Target Spot, Free Spot, Target Direct, Free Direct. The drop down menu for this subset contains only Standard types.

Cameras: Represented by a graphic of a camera, this contains the camera types:Target and Free. The drop down menu for this subset contains only Standard types. The last set of tools that we will discuss as part of the standard 3D Studio Max interface is located at the bottom of the window, stretching along the width of the working area below the multiple views. These tools help control how you view your animation, your time line, and how you view your scene.

Now a day there are lots of esteemed websites are containing lots of information regarding 3D Max lessons. Not only a text type tutorial, are video tutorials also available in the internet to learn 3D Max.

Hobby Electronics Robot Kits

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Robotics has become part of our daily lives. From toys to home appliances, it has taken over the problematic mechanisms of the amenities that we grew accustomed to. Aside from that, robotics provides challenging activities where we can develop important skills. It can even help us sharpen our research, critical thinking and problem solving skills by honing our mechanical, electronic and software capabilities. It can be a form of are since it allows us to build useful objects from simple parts. With the use of hobby electronics robot kits, we can explore, fix and put components together and learn much more about robotics.

Hobby electronics robot kits are provided to help us hone our skills by doing simple to complicated repairs and modifications on robot components. For instance, we can use these kits in assembling or fixing damaged toy robots. Although the task is quite challenging, it will be a lot easier if you have the right kits. Often, robot toys are designed to roll, walk or climb around your house. Depending on the design configurations of the kit that you choose, you can either make the toy have a built-in brain or remote controlled operations. Either way, going through the process of assembly or conversion will be fun as the kit provides everything you need to get the job done.

There are actually a number of kinds of hobby electronics robot kits, which are fitted for specific uses. For example, programmable robotic kits provide experienced technicians and engineers or even hobbyists with tools that are usually applied on robotic research. For high school and college projects, this type of kits very helpful in deeply involving the students in the efforts of mastering important mechanics, electronics and software development skills. On the other hand, BEAM robot kits are ideally used in using ingenious robotic designs since they are not fitted to work with an external power and do not involve programming. Just like in other tool kits, soldering components is common among robot kits since soldering is essential in the assembly of robotic components.

At the rate by which robotics continuously develops, more and more children as well as adults have been amazed by its wonders. Its applications have significantly improved our way of living. A classic example is the robotic dog. If you happen to be allergic to the real animal, then a robotic animal pet can be an exciting option. Voice activated appliances are now brought to the homes of millions of Americans. As they are simulated to do certain tasks with a specific command prompt, the problems that are faced when preparing and cooking food, cleaning the house or washing clothes will be things of the past. If you can't afford a robot yet, then you can start small. Make robotics part of your hobby and build a prototype of your own. By having the right hobby electronics robot kits, you can easily assemble, repair or modify problematic robotic parts and be an engineer at your own right.

How To Draw 3D Cartoons Quickly And Easily

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Drawing cartoons is not the most difficult thing in the world but it isn't very easy either. You need time, imagination and sense of proportions to produce vivid characters and make your drawings look three-dimensional.

Colors and shades have a decisive role in the business but the lines and curves you use for the contour constitute the basic element. The art of adding shadows can be learned by studying objects in different places of your room if you can count on natural light. Otherwise, a lamp may be used to detect the difference that light makes in the appearance of an object. Grab a funny toy that you have in the house and a little lamp and start learning. Move the lamp around the toy and above it and make a visual note of what happens each time.

Now take a pencil and a piece of paper and try putting down your toy-character. Draw the contour and when you think it looks like your toy you may use a black color pencil to add firmness to the contour. Next step: color your character without thinking of shadows; they will come soon. As soon as you have filled the contour you will have to find the appropriate color pencil to make shadows with. Use a darker shade of whatever color your character is. Don't use gray or black, they will make your drawing look artificial.

With animal cartoon characters, the expression of the eyes and the proper shading are the basic elements that make them 'live'. The only thing to keep in mind is the head, which must be bigger for a baby animal. Yet, when you want to create people, proportions are a lot more important than colors. When we watch a film we usually concentrate on the face of an adult human character, but the general appearance can be easily noticed by the way it moves. Looking at a photo of yours or at your 6-year-old brother playing about the room will not help. There is nothing funny in real-life proportions. What you should do is exaggerate more or less in order to make your cartoon character amusing. A kid character will have a body about the same height as the head, while an adult character will look perfect with the body twice the height of the head.

Once you have created a set of animal and human cartoon characters (preferably on a graphic tablet with a stylus) and saved them in your computer, you may start preparing for a more difficult activity: creating 3D animations. There are several programs you can use to learn that. TrueSpace for instance is free and if you read the tutorial thoroughly and spend a couple of months of your life learning and testing the wide variety of options that the program includes, you may turn into an artist before you can notice. Nothing is easy when you try it for the first time, but with a little patience and a lot of passion you can make it. Believe me, 3D animation is a lot of fun, otherwise there wouldn't be so many adults doing it for pleasure. It is challenging and very rewarding. Try it yourself!

Sketchup and Online Landscape Design - Creating a 3D Landscape

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Sketchup is 3D design software that is used for many different industries.

However, for the hard to visualize area of landscape design, it can provide one of the best portrayals of the 3D landscape.

Sketchup was originally owned by @Last Software, but it was bought by Google. Hmmm....I guess Google thought it was pretty good. And it is.

There is a free version and a paid version. For the average person, the free version is fine. If you want to get more intricate with such things as grading and showing different elevations, then you will want the paid version.

For residential design, you can use this program in a couple of different ways.

The first way is to design right in the program. With a click of the mouse, you can set the drawing in a perspective position. Guidelines help you make sure you are drawing correctly. You can enter actual heights and lengths of objects, such as a house. You can put in the dimensions of the house, ie., length and width. Then use something called the pull tool to extend it up to the correct height.

It is all very user friendly. Also, what is created has an artistic flair to it, which makes it a lot of fun!

You can also view different materials for landscape elements. For example, if you are drawing a patio, you can go to the Materials area and choose what you might like. There are many different materials and you can change them as you like to see the differences. Some choices are stone, pavers, brick and concrete.

A plant palette is offered also. These are fine. However, for a more sophisticated look, there are other inexpensive components you can buy to use in your design.

The second way of using Sketchup is to create a 2D drawing in such programs as AutoCad, and import it into Sketchup. In this situation, you are working from your drawing so that an exact replica of the design is created. This allows you to see what a drawing will look like when built. Changes are easily made if there is something you don't like or want to add.

Some of the components you can add to the 3D landscape design are people, cars, grills, pergolas, plants, any many, many more. These are available directly through the program or through something called Google Warehouse. They are all free.

There is a lot of flexibility with the components. You can resize or rescale them if you need to. You can also change colors of both components and materials.

By adding window components to a house, you can actually position a person inside the house. This allows you to attain a view as if you were inside looking out. What a great feature to see what your view will be like.

You can also create scenes. Scenes let you save a particular view. These scenes can also be exported into jpeg images. You can also create an animation which is a fly by or walk through of the entire design!

Any or all of these features can be used to suit your purposes. The software can be used in both simple and sophisticated ways. There are many other features available also. All in all it is a great 3D program.

They follow a 3-part format that consistently garners positive results and earns the job applicants who wrote them highly sought after job interviews.

Even if you're not a great writer, you can write great cover letters by following the format listed below. Use this format to write the best cover letters for getting job interviews. If you write your cover letter and still aren't comfortable with the result, have no fear. The link at the end of the article offers cover letter writing services and software that may assist you.

But first things first...

1. Grab Attention in Your First Paragraph is the first tip to writing best cover letters for getting job interviews.

Hiring managers review hundreds of cover letters and resumes for every job they fill. To get attention, your cover letter must stand out. Here are examples of effective and interesting first paragraphs. Choose the one that works best for your situation and modify it to suit your needs.

State how your skills and experience match the job description and would be a benefit to the organization.

  • Example: After graduating from Northeastern University with a B.S. in Computer Graphic Technology, I spent the summer interning in New York City at Sunrise Communications. During that time, I brainstormed ideas and story concepts with Sunrise's Creative Team. I drew detailed storyboards that formed the basis for local and international TV advertisements. At Sunrise, I learned to share ideas, accept criticism and problem-solve in a high-pressured environment.
  • Example: In response to this opportunity, I would like to call attention to my experience in producing and directing numerous PR events throughout Orange County as well as my large network of both celebrity and national media contacts.
  • Example: Since graduating from Simmons College Prince Program of Retail Management, I've been involved in all aspects of retail, from front-of-the-store management and training to inventory planning, buying, and merchandising. I have worked in both specialty and mass markets and have broad-based experience dealing with customers, fellow employees, management, and vendors. I thrive in a fast-paced environment and feel energized by the thought of helping manage the L.L. Bean Women's Department.

If you've talked with the hiring manager, use the first paragraph to remind her of the conversation.

  • Example: Thank you for calling me about the Character Animator position posted on Pixar's website. I enjoyed talking with you and learning more about this position.

If appropriate, don't be afraid to name drop.

  • Example: Henry Smith, who supervised my work as a summer intern with your firm, recommended that I apply for the position of Associate Attorney.

Mention something you know about the organization.

  • Example: I read the June 10th issue of The Kentucky Sun with great interest. The article, "How One Restaurant Makes a Difference" applauded Pannucci's contribution to the Good Shepherd Food Bank. I believe my experience as a pastry chef as well as my work on the Eastside Food Pantry's Board of Directors makes me a perfect candidate for the position of Pannucci Head Pastry Chef.
  • Example: Cuddledown's branded voice is recognizable and respected; its high-quality products are well positioned in the market. I would welcome the chance to develop and execute marketing strategies to increase sales and distribution of the company's products.

Get their attention by asking a question.

  • Example: Are you looking for a self-motivated individual who has organized large-scale events and significantly improved customer retention?

2. Keep Their Attention in the Middle is the second tip to write best cover letters for getting job interviews.

As you write, keep the company's point of view in mind. Try to anticipate what the hiring manager is looking for and include that information. If you have an employment gap or some other item on your resume that you think the hiring manager will question, succinctly and without apology, answer the issue in the middle section of your cover letter.

In the middle section of your cover letter, tell how your education and experience match the job description. Use specific examples to show how your skills meet the job requirements. .

  • Example: To manage this department, I would call on my experience at Jordan Marsh as the Liz Claiborne Department Manager. There, I merchandised product and motivated my sales team to generate the highest company-wide sales volume for dress collections. I am a natural sales person and definitely "have a knack" for merchandising and visual presentation.
  • Example: Throughout my years as a caseworker, I have helped many clients identify and apply for jobs that match their skill sets. I believe my dedication to the people I serve and my ability to identify and match their strengths to the job market makes me the perfect candidate for Employment Specialist position at Crossroads Community Services.

If appropriate, mention specific goals you have accomplished.

  • Example: While at Nordstrom's, I motivated my team to exceed department sales goals of .2 million annually. The team generated the highest company-wide sales volume for the dress collection.
  • Example: While providing administrative support to the Director of Marketing and Sales, I reduced company travel expenditures by ,000 in my first three months by renegotiating contracts with the department's suppliers.

3. End your Cover Letter with an Action Follow Up and a Respectful Close is the third tip for writing best cover letters for getting job interviews.

Your closing paragraph or sentence should encourage action.

  • ·Example: As requested, I have enclosed my resume for your review. I look forward to discussing my qualifications and learning more about the position. Please contact me at 555.555.5555 or by email at dede@afewgoodwords.com with any additional questions. Thank you for your time and consideration.

End your letter with a respectful and professional close. "Sincerely yours" or "Respectfully yours" works well.

That's it. Use this 3-part format to write best cover letters for getting job interviews. If you do, you'll end up with a cover letter that will stand up to the competition and get you the job interviews you deserve.

Best of luck in your job search.

Thoughtful Interview Preparation: Getting Your Dream Job

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

You've identified an opportunity that you are excited about and well-qualified for. You've polished and targeted your resume, and crafted your cover letter. Great news: You are invited for an interview! Now it is time to really gear up. Preparation is key - whether you haven't interviewed in a decade or if you've had ten recent interviews.

Whether you end up in a conversational style Q&A or are engaged in a competency based (behavioral) interview approach, spend time in advance thinking about answers to some potential questions in advance so that you are prepared to answer them naturally and informatively.

Know your Audience:

Research the company and the people. Read about them online, ask your recruiter to share insights into the company culture and strengths, network with current and former employees, read the bios of the people you will be meeting with and upper management. Be prepared to identify what about this company attracted you to them, show that you are someone who will be dedicated and invested in this company.

Know the Industry:

Who are the company's competitors, who are their customers and suppliers? What are the key business missions, messaging, and the recent benchmarks? What are the recent trends, challenges and opportunities in the industry? Be prepared to show your knowledge of the industry players/issues and how your experience and skill set is pertinent to the company's business.

Know the Position:

Re-read the job description and be very clear on the duties. What examples can you offer of your experience in success at accomplishing these responsibilities? What are the most relevant highlights of your track record? Be prepared to elaborate on how your experience and skill set will contribute to the company's success.

Know your Take Away:

Why are you the right person for the job? Why should they hire you instead of other candidates? How can you fit in and contribute immediately? Be prepared to communicate your take away message on why you are the right person for the job.

Here are some examples to help you in your interview preparation.

Ability and Career Initiative questions:

  • How would your boss describe you?
  • What is your reputation at work?
  • What professional accomplishments are you most proud of and why?
  • What is the most important thing you contribute to any organization?
  • Where do you see yourself in 5/10 years?
  • Name three things you like and dislike about your current/last position.
  • Why do you want to leave/did you leave your last position?
  • Why is your current organization a better place for you having worked there?
  • Why would this position be a good move in your career development?
  • What have you done in your current/last position to improve your company's bottom-line?

You want to paint a picture of yourself as a qualified, capable person, ready, willing and enthusiastic about contributing to the company's mission. If you are looking for a new position because the last/current one was negative, or if you've been unemployed for a while, formulate your response carefully. Never share dirty laundry and don't waste time on negatives. Focus on the proactive and the positive aspects of your interest in the opportunity you are interviewing for and what you can bring to the table. Show career pride and initiative.

Competency-based questions:

  • Tell me about a situation in which you had a miscommunication with a customer/colleague/boss and how you handled it.
  • Describe a time when you didn't accomplish a professional goal and how you rectified the situation?
  • What was the biggest professional challenge you faced in your last position and how did you overcome it?
  • Can you describe an example of when you worked with a colleague or group to solve a problem?

You will definitely need to have real-life examples ready. Be prepared to explain how you resolved the situation favorably, what you learned, and how that experience could be applied to the work environment of your potential employer. You want to demonstrate your ability to work well with others, accomplish the mission, be accountable and proactive, and problem-solve.

Real-life Work Scenario:

You may have a real work problem laid before you, and be asked to describe how you would proceed. While this is a little harder to prepare for in advance, you should be thinking about the aspects of the role and draw from your past experience. This is similar to preparing for competency based questions.

New-Age questions:

  • If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
  • If you were a fruit, what kind of fruit would you be?

The interviewer is looking for a correct answer of an animal that is efficient, proactive, social, organized, and a fruit that mixes harmoniously in a fruit salad medley. Hopefully no one is ruled out because they say cat (sleeps a lot) or an avocado (doesn't mix well in a fruit salad). Perhaps the true point is to see how you might react and if you have a sense of humor.

Gauging Interest and Engagment:

  • What did you like on our website? What attracted you to our organization?
  • What questions do you have for me/about the company/role?
  • How could our company do better?

There is no wrong answer to these questions except to not have an answer. This is your opportunity to find out more about the company/management culture, goals, strengths, etc. And importantly, this is your chance to show your serious intent and enthusiasm for the company. If you have no more questions, take this time to express that the conversation has touched on all the points you wanted to explore more and that you appreciate the manager's candor and time; leave them with the impression of satisfaction as opposed to disinterest.

Formulate your responses using the STAR approach:

When formulating your response, maximize the opportunity to demonstrate your professional success. Situation. Task. Action. Results.

For example, if you are asked what you have done in your current position to improve your company's bottom-line, "As the International Channel Manager (situation) of a company trying to gain market share in international markets (task), I spearheaded and drove an International Distributor meeting with focus sessions on marketing and sales strategies and tools, introduction to add-on products, as well as software localization and OEM technology and coordination (action). The result was 2 additional language versions of the software being produced, strengthened communications and renewed marketing and sales motivation with a 20% increase in International channel sales and a strengthened relationship with our channel partners (results).

Do you have any funny interview questions or anecdotes? Please share them with us.

Working As A Professional Photographer

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Turning your passion for photography into a career is an exciting prospect for many people. How wonderful to be able to do what you love and get paid for it. This is the ideal working situation!

Becoming a professional photographer is no easy task, but the rewards are many. The ability to work for yourself and organize your own time is a big plus. Becoming a professional photographer takes hard work and commitment. Most of all you have to love taking pictures. This is what will drive you to achieve success.

Most professional photographers specialize in one area of the market, sometimes two. For instance there are those who love to take pictures of family and friends, they would be best suited to portraiture and weddings. There are those who love to take photographs of scenery and wildlife, maybe also photographs of their holidays. These people would be suited to travel and landscape photography, perhaps combining this with nature and animals.

Still life and lifestyle photography are another common combination. Do you love to take photographs of interesting objects and of beautiful interiors? If so this could be for you.

When I made a decision to turn my love of photography into a career and set up my own business, I really had no idea where to start. All I knew was that I loved to take pictures, that the satisfaction that I gained from a beautiful or interesting photograph was immense. I came across many hurdles. I literally hid away in a room for several months learning to control light. I set up a home studio, I bought professional lighting equipment, and I took thousands of photographs under different light conditions to see what could be achieved. Prior to this, I had purely a good eye for a photograph. In order to sell professionally this is not enough. You must become a master of light. You must learn to paint with light.

After a couple of months I felt confident that I could control lighting conditions well enough to take good still life photographs. I enjoyed the slow and disciplined way in which still life photographs are taken. This is not for everyone however. Some love to be out and about with a camera. Whatever your preference, to sell your services professionally, you must first master light.

I then moved onto teaching myself Photoshop. This is invaluable as you can edit photographs quickly and efficiently with this tool. There are many online resources to teach you how to use this software.

The hardest part of being a professional photographer is marketing yourself. Most of us do not know where to start. I have found the best way to advertise is through a high-ranking website. You will need a good website so you can display your best work and you will also need to make sure that people find your site. This means that your site needs to rank highly with the most popular search engines. This is time consuming and can be very difficult. To save time, so you can concentrate on taking pictures, I suggest employing someone in the know to take over this part for you. Unless you are particularly good with computers.

When you have a combination of a good high raking website and great photographs, you really are well on your way to having a successful and rewarding career as a professional photographer. This is the beginning of your journey at getting paid for something that you love. If you want it enough, you will get there. Good luck!

Career in Graphic Arts

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Graphic arts refers to the artistic interpretation and creation of design through artistic expression. In other words, graphic art is the art of visualizing ideas. Graphic artists use their creativity and talent to design, display, advertise, package and promote. Graphic design is seen everywhere in the world around us - from books and magazines, food products, cars, household appliances, clothing, computers, and everything in between.

A graphic artist is also often referred to as a graphic designer. He or she uses a diverse range of media to create designs and visually convey a message or an idea to the public. Since the aim of a graphic designer is to enhance the image and saleability of a product, the work profile could encompass designs for websites, logos, stationery, print material, advertisements, films and videos, posters, brochures, and other promotional materials. Responsibilities could also include overseeing layouts during printing of magazines, books and newspapers, designing sets for theatre and film and even furniture design. Many graphic designers still use traditional tools such as pencil, ink and paper but more and more now rely on computer aided technology and the latest design software to enhance their work.

Graphic artists are required to hold a Graphic Arts degree or a diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Art or Commercial Art. In addition to this, hands-on experience is necessary along with a portfolio full of ideas and work. A graphic artist needs to be independent and self motivated and possess the imagination and creativity to deal with a range of subjects and products. A close attention to detail and an instinct for color, shape and form is essential. A good graphic artist would be one with an exposure to a wide range of media and communication techniques. He or she will be fluent in handling all sorts of tools, techniques, drawings and models. Graphic designers need to evaluate their customer's needs and must be adept at all sorts of sales and marketing strategies. Therefore, a comprehensive knowledge of theory and methodology is required to excel in this type of career.

Today, good Graphic Design Programs mix creativity with technology and business skills. Course material should include (among others) - Web page design, Flash, Typography, JavaScript, Web Animation, Photoshop, Illustrator, Pre-press Operations, Internet Management, Marketing, Computer Fundamentals, and Desktop Publishing.

Graphic designers have the choice to work alone or as a part of a large design team. They could opt for consultancy services or freelance work if they do not want to be tied down to a particular design studio or advertising agency. Media opportunities for graphic artists could be found in print, packaging, movie, video, television or radio. Graphic artists can be employed by magazines or newspapers, books, advertising agencies and graphic design firms as well as non-profit organizations, governmental agencies, companies and for specific events.

A career in design could lead to various positions in the field of graphic arts such as Art director, Directors - state, motion picture, television, radio, Visual artists, Animators, Children book illustrators, Commercial and industrial designer, Fashion designer, Interior designer, Set designer, Painters and illustrators, Cartoonist, comic book artists, Camera operator, television, video or motion picture operators, Desktop publisher, Composing room supervisor and Online producer.

And as the years go by, jobs for graphic designers are only expected to rise and individuals with experience in animation and Web design will have the best opportunity to qualify for the newer job positions being created in the fields of technology. A career in graphic design is assuredly fast growing and one that is becoming more and more competitive with every passing day. People now recognize the earning potential of such a career and the flexibility and independence offered by the choices within this field. Whether you work full-time in a small studio or large agency or freelance full-time on your own terms, the bottom line is that graphic arts is a great choice for people who need to express themselves creatively and earn well at the same time.

Virtual Pet Games - What is Online For Kids?

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Generally, there are 3 kinds of virtual pets: downloadable (download the software and play games on your computer), straight online virtual pets and "dual pets", which are actually plush animals, which can also be looked after online by keying in a unique code that accompanies the toy at virtual pet adoption sites.

Downloadable virtual pets are a great source of entertainment, and you need not be online at cyber pet adoption sites - once the software is downloaded. The problem with this option is that unless a reputed site provides the software, you are facing the danger of downloading a virus along with the game - which can be quite bad! (If you visit one of the free download sites, there can even be a warning note at the top or bottom of the webpage regarding it.)

Virtual pets at VPA sites are played straight online, without having to download the software for playing. Generally this means taking a registered membership with the cyber pet adoption site so as to own the pet. This is a good option, but if the virtual pet adoption site is not secured you again run the risk of running into a virus that can actually spoil your computer.

So for both the above alternatives, ensure you have installed latest version of a good virus protection for your computer!

The last kind of online pet ("dual pets") is the best solution. They're quite cheap (about - for each new pet) and actually worth the price paid. These pets are real, meaning they are luxurious stuffed animals with which children can play like other kinds of toys, but they come with a code printed on a card provided along with them that gives access to virtual pet adoption websites letting the child feed, clothe, provide medication and design homes for their pets. In this VPA online game, the cyber pet adoption sites are very secure (thus eliminating the risk of unknowingly adopting a virus as well as the pet). Besides there are various other activities that are available on the virtual pet adoption sites like educational games, chat rooms (safe) and other entertainment for young ones.

Make Me a Cartoon! How to Quickly Cartoon Yourself For Free

,
3D ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Turning your photo into a cartoon web face is one of the hottest online trends throughout the social networking world today. Cartoon avatars serve as a unique way of branding your personal identity in a variety of online communities like Facebook, MySpace and many others. There are many different ways of creating a cartoon picture by digitally manipulating a photograph of your face. Methods range from professional graphic image editing techniques using Photoshop or Illustrator to fully automated online website systems.

Since most people do not have access to professional image editing software like Photoshop nor the skills to use such a complex program, we will just look at some of the automated cartoon yourself for free methods available. So if you're still wondering how to make me a cartoon then keep reading.

Perhaps the quickest way to make a cartoonize photo of yourself is to use an online image editor like Lunapic. It's really simple...first I just go to the Lunapic website, then I choose an image file for my web face and click "upload now". After the image has uploaded to their server, I can create the cartoon picture of myself by going to the "effects" drop down menu at the top and then click on "cartoon". Right after the effect is applied, I always save my web face cartoon by clicking on one of the "save to" links below the image.

Similar cartoonize photo results can be obtained by using Google's online image editing tool at Picasaweb. This service is a little more complicated than the Lunapic method above but it can produce similar results. One of the difficulties with Picasa is that Google will insist that you have an account with them before you can use the service but they do have more options available in their interface.
