What's the Difference Between 2D and 3D Anyway?

,
3D MODELING AND ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Isn't it obvious? Well, apparently not quite, when you consider how many people are still struggling with this topic!

The first concept you must grasp is that 3D means 3 dimensional and 2D means 2 dimensional. Now before you think I'm stating the obvious, let me go on to say that the 3D and 2D in animation refer to the dimension in which the animation was created. Ahhhh. The plot thickens eh?

For 2D animation, everything happens on a 2 dimensional platform. Pictures are flat, without depth and offer only one perspective. Objects and characters are usually drawn without the subtle soft shadows we see in real life and colours have few varying shades. In 3D animation, everything happens on a 3 dimensional platform. Pictures have depth and offer multiple perspectives just like in real life and have soft subtle shadows casted on the objects and characters within.

In 2D, characters look cartoonish and unrealisitc. In 3D, characters can look cartoonish but realistic at the same time.

Another way to think of this is to think in terms of a painting and a sculpture. 2D is a painting, and 3D is a sculpture. 3D introduces "depth perspective," so we not only see a rectangle (2D) but a CUBE (3D). You may also want to think of it like being the difference between a photograph of a glass of water (2D) and being able to reach out and actually pick up the glass of water (3D).

Typically, 2D involves "drawing," or movement on, say, a flat surface (sketch pad, etc.) or in the vertical and horizontal planes. 3D involves "modeling," i.e., creating objects in 3-dimensions using a computer software, residing in an expansive virtual environment, complete with lights, reflections, other objects, shadows, etc.

You could start training yourself by comparing a cartoon like Bugs Bunny, Aladdin, Lion King (2D) to "Toy Story 1,2 & 3, "Finding Nemo" and "Incredibles" (3D). If you have not watched any of these great cartoons, you should grab one right away or be branded a neantherdal forever!

Vet PACS For the Fully Functional Veterinary Clinic

,
3D MODELING AND ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Both large and small-animal veterinary practices add additional value to the services they provide by offering mobile veterinary units in vans or trucks. Sometimes this is the only way to see your animal patients, but it can be challenging because you essentially need to bring all of the basics that would be provided at your office on the road with you. This also includes Veterinary x-ray equipment. Many vets choose to use Veterinary digital x-ray solutions to meet this challenge. These can be sized to fit in a vehicle, and will provide you the information your need to offer excellent patient care even away from your main office.

Veterinarians can choose from Veterinary CR or Veterinary DR systems. These are digital imaging systems, both of which can be used in a mobile environment. Both CR and DR imagers will take digital x-rays that will be converted to the dicom format used for medical digital images. Both types of image capture systems are available in mobile models that can be easily rolled about on hand carts with wheels, so that you can move the equipment into place around your patient. Mobile systems are also lightweight, making them more convenient to move and load into your vehicle. Systems will take on a compact form for ease of getting the equipment into your mobile unit as well. CR systems have the advantage of being the most cost-effective digital imaging solution currently available, and they have the added advantage of offering you the flexibility to retrofit existing film imaging systems so that they can also take digital images. DR imaging systems offer the highest resolution imagers on the medical market today.

For even more versatility while out on the road, you can also use a mobile Veterinary digital x-ray system in conjunction with a Vet CR software and hardware unit running on a laptop computer. The PACS system will then allow you to view the digital medical images you take out in the field, giving you speedy results and diagnoses. Digital images in dicom format may then also be sent via a wireless Internet connection back to your main office for further study and storage. PACS systems can be used on workstations to enhance the digital images through the contrast, brightness, zoom and crop features built in.

When working in a mobile environment, a veterinarian might never know exactly what types of services he or she will need to be able to offer on a moment's notice, but with a digital x-ray unit on board you will have a major system in place for gaining valuable patient information.

8 Tips for Designing a Great Website

,
3D MODELING AND ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Square buttons, round buttons, flashy buttons... will they match my shoes, my handbag or my tie? Are you stuck in a maze of buttons, headings, bullets, sub-headings and colour schemes?

STOP!!!!

Take a deep breath and read some practical tips for professional looking websites.

1. Select a colour scheme and stick to it.

If your company has a logo or preferred colours on its stationery that's a good start. For those of you starting from scratch, choose two or three complementary colours and stick with them - don't change colours on every page.

The most common colour schemes include:

Red, yellow and white

Blue and white

Red, grey and white

Blue, orange and white

Yellow, grey and white.

If you're not sure what colour scheme to choose, surf the internet and find a website that you like. You can then model your colour scheme on what already exists.

2. Use templates.

Can't find a website you really like? Another option is to choose a template. There are many templates or pre-set designs. These come as part of your web design software (such as FrontPage) or you can check out some websites that specialise in designing templates.

3. Provide an easy to use navigation system.

This is one of the most important issues to consider when designing a website. You need to ensure your visitors can find what they are looking for easily. Most websites either display their navigation bar on the left or at the top. And since most people are used to this type of navigation, it's best to stick with it.

It also helps to include your navigation bar at the bottom of each page to save your visitors from having to scroll back to the top.

4. Don't go overboard on special effects

Whilst it is ok to have one or two special effects to jazz up your website, spinning graphics and logos often distract your visitor from the content, not to mention they can take too long to download. Your visitors may click away even before your spinning logo finishes loading.

5. Backgrounds

Ensure your visitors can read the text on the background, ie. no black writing on dark blue background or yellow on white. Also be careful that your links are visible before and after being visited. The default for links in most programs is blue (before being visited) and burgundy (after being visited), so if you have a dark background, ensure your links are light.

6. External Links

It is a good idea to open links to other websites in a new window. That way your visitors can easily return to your site when they are finished browsing the external link

7. Site Map & Search Feature

If you website is more than 15 pages, it is useful to have a site map or a "Search" feature to ensure your visitors can easily find what they're looking for.

8. Content is King

While it is important that your website looks clean and professional, it is far more important that you concentrate your efforts on the content and promotion.

If you want a professional website, things to stay away from include:

  1. Flash intros, revolving globes, bevelled line separators, animated mail boxes
  2. Loads of pop up or pop under boxes
  3. Autoplay music. Allow your customer to play music only if they choose.
  4. Hit counters of the free variety, which say "you are 27th visitor"
  5. Date and time stamps, unless your website is updated daily or weekly
  6. Busy backgrounds.

Don't sweat the small stuff and get yourself focussed on what to include on the website and the best way to promote it. We will cover these topics in future articles.

Funny Animation

,
3D MODELING AND ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

Animation is a very special media form. It allows the complete re-presentation of reality. Funny animation attracts attention of viewers to get into the purpose. Website, presentations, product demos, advertisements, public show must have some funny animation stuff to attract the reader or viewers. This is a very easy now with the help of computer, software and tools. Generating animation graphics and making it animated is also funny work. Animation may not be so powerful but widely used and appreciated. Funny animations are popular in computer games, Cartoon channels, blockbuster movies etc. Funny Animation is used to fill in the gaps when reality simply doesn't look real enough.

Funny Animation is the process of linking a series of slightly different funny cartoon drawings together to simulate a movement. There are normally 24 or less frames per second in moving film and it happens similar in animated GIFs you see on websites.

Techniques used for Funny Animations:

There are three different techniques types of cartoon animation:

1. Cel Animation cartoons are made on transparent sheets (celluloid) laid on top of each other to combine characters and backgrounds.
2. Stop Motion Animation is model or cartoons or puppet (or shadow) is shot a frame at a time, with tiny changes in positions.
3. Computer animation where computer is used for creating the shapes and colors of animated action, working from a series of mathematical codes, or can be drawn frame by frame cartoons.

Popular Usage of Funny Animation:

In User Interface design in software, web applications and websites, many funny animations are popularly used. The buttons, pop up stuff, comment box, help (like MS word help and search dog) are designed with animations that give a pleasure look at the animation. There are numerous funny animations are used in electronic advertisement on Internet and television media. Advertisers can make funny animation advertisement film without a human model. They can redirect the animation character to any extent. There are many cartoon animation films have been made in Hollywood film industry.

Making of Animations

Storyboards preparation is the first document work that conveys the list of task to be done sequentially. Making shapes body, faces, hands, legs, dress up and putting color are sequential steps. You can use some common shape, alphabets for making of face, flower, tree, house etc. Based on the distant of objects you have to draw the sizes of the objects or character. In computer you can repeat a partial drawing using mirror images effects. There are many effects, layer works can be designed for animating objects. Flip Book is a sample that can be used while making animation graphics in computer. You can draw frame by frame graphics and change in each frame like flip book sequential images. You will find a good animation of your drawing object.

Think of some funny sounds that match to your animation object movements or character movements. Funny sounds like laughs, claps, chains clanking, footsteps, doors creaking, whistle, wind, rain, thunder and lightening, barking dog etc. can be collected from libraries and incorporate in specific frames. To be a good funny animator, you need to think about how shapes can change and move with humorous way.

AniBoom has a founding team having rich experience from different fields of Television, media managing, animation especially funny animation and able to bring all of their experience, as in synergy, into the Internet.

Royalty Free Stock Footage - 8 Things You Need to Know Before Buying

,
3D MODELING AND ANIMATION SOFTWARE :

We all know that stock footage is a real time saver for video production. Besides choosing the right video content, one should also consider these 8 important things before purchasing your footage:

1. Royalty free: Always opt for royalty free stock footage so that your usage is not restricted to the number of projects or release locations for a one-time licensing fee.

2. Delivery Format: Stock footage is usually delivered in one of the following formats:

  • Standard Definition: NTSC or PAL
  • High Definition: HD 1080p, 1080i, HD 720p.
  • Multimedia or Web ( non-broadcast standard ): 320x240 or 640 x 480.

The format that best suits your work will depend on your destination and resolution of your playback. If you are not sure or are likely to use the stock footage in other playback formats, then definitely go for High Definition Progressive ( HD 1080p or HD 720p ). They may cost slightly more, but their image quality will hold up better after format conversion or image manipulation because they are non-interlaced and high resolution. Of course, you can also use them in high definition projects as well.

3. Source: Many stock footage providers in the market claim to deliver multiple video formats, but are actually converted from one main native source. Confirm the footage source. If you purchase an NTSC clip converted from a PAL source (or vice versa), then you are not getting quality video. Make sure the stock footage video you are purchasing is from a similar or higher resolution source.

4. Compression Method: Stock footage delivered via download usually employs some sort of compression to keep file size manageable. Quicktime Photo JPEG compression codec is fast becoming a standard for digital delivery. This compression codec, when compressed from 75 to 90 %, gives the best quality without visible losses while also keeping file size manageable.

5. Alpha Matte: Alpha Matte is a black and white (256 grey scale) image used to isolate a certain section of a video frame in a compositing software, so that you can easily replace its background. This is especially important if you are purchasing a clip for its foreground element only. Alpha Mattes are usually available in 3D animated stock footage, as well as chroma key video, offered by many websites.

6. Model Release: If your stock footage contains recognizable faces, and you intend to use the clip for commercial purpose, make sure the clip comes with a Model Release, a document signed by the person recognized in the clip that gives the buyer the right to use the clip. However, for editorial footage (that is, footage that is newsworthy or has documentary value), model releases are not usually required.

7. Property Release: Similarly, if your stock footage contains a recognizable property and you intend to use the clip for commercial purposes, make sure the clip comes with a Property Release from the property owner.

8. File Size and Broadband: What's the point of having all these checks in place if you don't have the extra bandwidth to download them? Make sure you have a broadband Internet connection. Always check the file size of the footage you intend to download against the Internet speed you have, as High Definition or long footages can easily go up to a few hundred megabytes in size. In many cases, you can still buy your stock footage online and have the stock footage provider ship them directly to your location, incurring a shipping cost and a few days of delay.

Educational institutions require these graphics for lucid explanation of facts or online tutorials. The film and entertainment industry often uses cartoons for visual effects or preparing a complete cartoon film.

There are several types of animation invented and introduced to the world. The 2D graphics was the first to be introduced to the world. In this kind, the cartoon characters are created by using 2D bitmap graphics. The advanced version is 3D animation that is digitally modeled as a result of which an animator can manipulate the image he desires or requires. There are many ways to use the graphic for the purpose of cartoon making. The Puppet cartoon making can be created by using stop-motion puppet figures. A constructed environment is created in which these figures interact with each other. The Model graphics are also used for the purpose of making cartoon films for the purpose of entertaining the children. Nowadays, animated films are also created for the adults and not only for the children. It is stop-motion moving picture created that exists as a part of real world. There are several visual effects used for the purpose of making a picture more emphatic and impressive. You can have intercutting, split screens and matte effects to make the stop-motion characters interact with the live actors or settings. The clay moving pictures employs figures made of clay or similar such material to create an impression of moving pictures. All these are different kinds of animated films or characters to achieve desirable results.
